Virtual Interview with Annemiek Douw

Virtual Interview with Annemiek Douw

Today, I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 4 of Annemiek Douw’s Virtual Blog Tour.

Annemiek’s book 21 Layers of the Soul: Healing the Karmic Ties with Friends, Lovers, Family and Enemies is celebrating its launch from December 2nd to 16th, 2013 at http://21LayersOfTheSoul.

ANNEMIEK DOUW, MSc is a management coach, light-worker, medium, energetic therapist, trainer and author. Her personal experience with long-term illness combined with her own work as a healer have led her to understand how the soul is an internal compass that continuously guides us. She has helped thousands of clients heal at many levels, teaching them how to read this compass for themselves. In 2011, she shared her unprecedented work in the Dutch language book De ziel in het licht van haar hogere auralagen, which is now available in English under the title 21 Layers of the Soul.

Yesterday, Annemiek visited Janet Matthies at where they talked about Feeling Pain, Integrated Education, and Healing Previous Lives. Today, I’d like to share with you a recent interview I had with Annemiek where I got to ask her some questions on authenticity and how we need to rethink terms like ‘ADD’ or ‘special needs’ with our children. I hope you enjoy it

STARR: What are the levels of effect we cause on ourselves, our community, and the consciousness of the planet when we use judgements on us or others?

ANNEMIEK: If we judge someone or something we disconnect. Before this happened we were connected and suddenly we decided to withdraw. That causes the natural flow of energy to stop, or get stuck. The energy needs to change its course because we are no longer participating – and that changes the course of events.

When we disconnect, we can no longer influence the other person in a positive way. Our thoughts, words and energy simply don’t reach them anymore. Vibrationally speaking, we’re no longer on the same wavelength, and this means signals are crossed and everyone has to solve their issues by themselves. This can create loneliness, misunderstanding and sometimes even hate.

STARR: People talk a lot about education and school as areas that are lacking in our society. We throw around terms like ADD/ADHD or “special needs” to refer to those who don’t seem to fit into the model we have created for them. What advice do you have for parents – or society in general – when speaking with children who challenge our thoughts on what “normal” behavior is?

ANNEMIEK: Suppose I was the only female living on this planet, and the rest were men. Would I be considered normal? I guess not, but for a woman I actually am quite normal, so if I were to move to a female planet and stayed the same me, I would suddenly become ‘normal’.

So ‘normal’ doesn’t say anything about the person being judged. It only tells you how the judge judges the world. ‘Normal’ is like statistics, it only says something about numbers and what has happened until now and what people are used to. I believe if we just replaced the words not normal with ‘different than me’ or ‘different than I expected it to be’ or even ‘different than I like it to be’, it becomes clear where the problem lies. Within the ‘normal’ people.

The solution is to simply realize that meeting people who are wired differently can sometimes make you feel unsure because you can’t always read them that well and to accept that you prefer to feel sure of yourself and at ease. Then it becomes possible to just think: “okay, I am out of my comfort zone. How can I get back in?”

And the answer is to really connect with this other being. You open your heart to him and you’re there.

STARR: I am a firm believer in authenticity being a path to healing for our planet. What are some ways we can learn to tap into our authentic nature, and what power does authenticity have in our lives when we do so?

ANNEMIEK: Being authentic is the greatest gift you have to give the world! You alone came to this Earth to do exactly what you came to do. There is no one else that brings the same combination of skills and Light that’s within you so please, be yourself and invite others to be themselves as well.

Being authentic is easier when you choose the company of other authentic people. Another help is connecting with the ‘special needs’ children, since they don’t adapt themselves and are pure, unique and authentic.

You can also connect with nature: cuddle your pets and really see and feel them. Or go outside where plants and trees help you ground yourself and let go of tensions. They assist you to descend from your head (if you’re living inside your head too much) and help you – just as meditation does – to become quiet and hear your inner voice again. That inner voice is your personal guiding system and that’s the core of your authentic you.
